I’ve been experimenting with my writing habits, I figure it’s good to mix things up a bit and not get too set in my ways.
So first off; a change of scenery. I usually write at my desk in the spare room in between 
the towel cupboard and the exercise bike. But the weather’s getting a bit colder and the dust on the bike is starting to make me sneeze ;). So sometimes I shift downstairs and light the woodburner. I can multi-task that way by drying the washing and keeping the kitten company. Although as she keeps attacking my pen and walking across my keyboard that may not be such a good thing!
Pens and keyboards; that leads me to my next change. I like to write longhand when I start a story. That flow of brain to fingers to page works for me, but I decided to give brain to keyboard a go. It was interesting because I still managed to produce something worthwhile although the process was very different. (Fewer conversations with myself). I think I’ll continue to experiment and see how it goes.
The next thing to try will be pantzing instead of planning. But I might have to prepare myself for that!

I try all sorts of methods in order to keep me motivated. I do have an office but I tend to write wnerever I end up after having my first coffee of the day. The results tend to be the same wherever or however I write – sometimes its a load of rubbish and sometimes it is on point. Wishing you lots of fun experimenting. Have a great week.

I agree with the above comment, I try lots of thing, but I am a natural panster, I have had to learn to plan, I have a combo of both works best for me, more one than the one depending on what day it is, Great post,

To be honest I think a combo works for me too, but in reverse – I’m a natural planner but there reaches a point when I have to just get on and write!

Mixing it up is good. When we do the same old, same old, we get bored. Then again, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. See what works best for you.

I use a variety methods, writing on the couch upstairs, downstairs in the recliner, standing up & on the kitchen counter while I’m cooking, in the laundry room between drying and folding or in bed. But what works best for me is to write longhand first before I type it and working in the library. To each their own but suggest to write wherever and however works best for you.

I actually got to the point where I didn’t have an electronic device handy and was panicking about how to get an idea written down…until my husband pointed out a paper and pencil. Yikes! I remember the days of long hand. Typing is SO much faster and I don’t think I could ever go back, but writing in different locations sounds like a fun way to mix it up.

If I didn’t outline, I’d have one big mess!
I used to write by hand first, but NaNo 2010 trained me to go straight to keyboard. (I’m slow either way, so it doesn’t really matter.)
Think you might let your cat type something and see what happens?

Re plotting – I always start with an idea based around plot. So many people say they start with a character that I feel I should give it a try to find out what I’m missing

I have a nice office at my house with a pc in it that I rarely use any more. I like writing with my laptop because I can use it anywhere. I also love using pens and notebooks.
I am a planner too. I just participated in NaNo for the first time. It was tough to be a pantser.
